Dance Floor Wrap vs.
Dance Floor Rental

What BC couples need to know before deciding how to handle their venue's dance floor.

When couples start planning their wedding décor, the dance floor often comes up as a question mark. Most venues in Vancouver and BC have an existing floor — hardwood, concrete, or tile — and the choice comes down to: rent a portable dance floor, or wrap the one that's already there? Here's an honest comparison.

What Is a Dance Floor Rental?

A dance floor rental means a vendor delivers and assembles a portable modular floor on top of your venue's existing surface. These are typically panels of wood or laminate in a standard pattern — often black and white checkerboard or a simple oak finish. They create a defined dancing area but don't offer much customization.

Dance floor rentals in Metro Vancouver typically run $800–$1,500+ depending on size and vendor, plus delivery and setup fees. They require significant setup time (often 2–3 hours) and take up more logistics on your wedding day.

What Is a Dance Floor Wrap?

A dance floor wrap — like the ones LuxeWraps installs — is a printed vinyl or fabric sheet that adheres directly to your venue's existing floor. It's fully customized: your names, your monogram, your design, your colours. It transforms a plain hardwood or concrete floor into a signature piece of your wedding décor.

Wraps are installed in about 30–60 minutes, are completely safe for existing floors (no adhesive damage), and are removed cleanly after your event. Classic wrap pricing at LuxeWraps starts at $597.

What Do BC Venues Actually Prefer?

Most venues in Metro Vancouver and all of BC already have beautiful hardwood floors that they're proud of. Many will actually discourage portable floor rentals because heavy panels can scuff or scratch the existing surface, and they increase setup complexity for the venue team.

A vinyl floor wrap, by contrast, is welcomed at virtually every venue we've worked at across BC. It protects the floor rather than threatening it, installs invisibly from a logistics standpoint, and removes cleanly. Always confirm with your venue coordinator first — but in our experience, wraps get approved far more consistently than rental floors.

When a Rental Might Still Make Sense

There are a few situations where a rental floor could be the right call: if your venue has an uneven, carpeted, or otherwise unwrappable surface; if you need to create a defined dance floor in an outdoor tent where there's no existing floor; or if your venue specifically requires a certain floor type for liability reasons.

For the vast majority of indoor venue weddings across Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, and the rest of BC — a floor wrap is the better value and the more visually impactful choice.
